Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Abstract Photography

Cee’s very exciting challenge this week is abstract photography. “Like abstract art, abstract photography concentrates on shape, form, color, pattern and texture. The viewer is often unable to see the whole object. The subject of the photo is often only a small part of the idea of the image. Viewers may only know the essence of the image subject or understand it by what is implied.”

A Heat Wave and A Marathon

Los Angeles held its 30th Annual Marathon today, with the participation of some 26,000 runners. But LA also had a heat wave this weekend which made the marathon very hard for the runners. We saw lots of people having a great time but many suffered with cramps and heat exhaustion. Aside from that, it was a great event and I enjoyed cheering for runners as they passed by my neighborhood.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Wall

This week’s Photo Challenge is Wall. Here is a variety of walls –ancient, new, fun, weird, musical–from my collection.

365/Day 71

One Spot, Three Perspectives — My photography class assignment was to shoot three photos from the same spot using different focal lengths. We had to choose one lens, and shoot with: (1) the widest focal length possible; (2) a mid-range focal length (50mm to 70mm); and (3) the highest focal length possible. I chose my Nikkor 18mm-140mm lens. Here is one of the sets I shot.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Catching People Unaware

See asked us to show our photos where people were unaware they were being photographed. There’s nothing I enjoy more than taking candid shots. People are so much more interesting when they are just being themselves, going about their lives, no poses, no fake smiles…
