Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week is Close-up. Getting up and close is not always easy. Unless, of course, you happen to have some zoom lenses on you…
And here are the subjects in real size.

I live very close to the ocean and love going to the beach and being around the water. But nothing compares to being surrounded by water everywhere, which is what one experiences in Venice, Italy’s beautiful “City of Water!”
This is part of A Word a Week Photography Challenge. Go here to see other “Water” entries.
These photos were taken on a late afternoon in London, UK.

For this week’s photo challenge, Letters, I bring you letters that mean numbers, and words that are just letters if you don’t understand them. In the end, it’s all about letters…
Earlier this month we spent two wonderful weeks in Italy, where we visited Venice, Florence, Greve in Chianti, Montefioralle, Siena, San Gimignano, and Montalcino. We drove through the Tuscan countryside and Val d’Orcia all the way to Rome, where we ended the trip. It was a fantastic trip. Italy is a photographer’s paradise and I took thousands of photos. Starting my series on Italy, here’s a slide show of the beautiful Tuscan countryside.
Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week is Round. So here are some shots of the dome of the beautiful Siena Cathedral, in Siena, Italy, which is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever seen. I will share more photos of it in other posts.
This week’s photo challenge is On Top. I’m posting a few shots from my recent trip to Italy.
The past eight days I’ve been traveling in Italy, after a very nice stop in London. Here are some of the many statues I photographed in London, Venice and Florence.
