Chicago’s Posh Neighborhood ~~

Astor Street District is a Chicago Landmark, with 19th-century houses designed in a variety of historical revival styles, interspersed with apartment buildings and townhouses. The houses are primarily Queen Anne, Richardsonian Romanesque and the Georgian Revival styles. We walked around it this afternoon, before the rain came to put a damper on the perfect weather we’d gotten so far here in Chicago.

“The Bean” ~~

We are visiting Chicago for the first time this week and I am overwhelmed by the city’s natural and architectural beauty. I’ve always known it was a great city with impressive architecture, but it has exceeded my expectations. I’ve taken lots of photos but will save them for later. For today’s 365 project I’m posting images of one of the most interesting attractions of Chicago’s Millennium Park. The huge bean-shaped mirrored sculpture by artist Anish Kapoor, called “Cloud Gate” but mostly known as “The Bean.” It’s an impressive piece of art that is both interesting and fun. Too bad there are so many silly tourists around it taking pictures all the time. Ahem… 🙂

L.A. Sky Tonight~~

As the sun set in Los Angeles this evening, the skies changed very rapidly from blue to pinkish reds and magenta tones, with very dramatic clouds. It would’ve been a great day to shoot the sunset on the beach, but the view from our backyard was not too shabby…

Getty Gardens ~~

The Getty Center is a museum/art center set on the top of a hill in Los Angeles. It is very close to our house and we often go there to check the latest exhibits and to take photographs. Here are some shots of the Getty gardens as we transition from Summer to Fall.
