365/Day 160

Rainy Day~~

LA’s “June gloom” today came with rain, heat, humidity, and winds… We are used to the doom and gloom of June mornings in SoCal, but usually by noon the marine layer has given way to the sun and days can be spectacular. Not today… Very light rain came and went all day putting a damper on my photo plans. So I walked around the garden, that always looks good after some rain, and shot these images.

Some Rain For L.A. ~~

We had rain today in Los Angeles. Hallelujah! Light showers during the day, and heavy showers in the evening, with some serious thunder, lightning, and some hail to boot! During the day, I went out to the garden and backyard between showers and shot these macros. Things were a bit messy with the wind blowing lots of stuff around, but the flowers seemed to have new life.

The Color “Purplish” ~~

I must have my mind on purple today because I shot lots of photos of flowers without noticing that most of them were purple, or at least “purplish”… Obviously, each of these tones has a specific name, but I am one of those people who have a difficult time with colors. I may call anything between lavender and blue purple. In other words, I am clearly color-name challenged… Color connoisseurs, please forgive me! 🙂

365 – Day 70

Spring is Here! And with spring come warmer days, bees, birds, and, of course, lots of flowers! Not that L.A. is flowerless during the winter. In fact, L.A. is never flowerless. We have flowers all year long –including some pretty awesome desert stuff– but there’s never as much variety as in the spring. So, if we keep getting some rain (fingers crossed), soon they’ll all be blooming with full force! Here are a few flowers blooming in our garden right now.
