A Word A Week Challenge: “Favourite”

It’s not easy picking favorites, be it photos, places, people, food, etc… But I have no problem picking my most favorite views, which I got to enjoy late afternoon this past Sunday, at a quieter than ever Venice beach.

A Word A Week Challenge: Arch

The word “arch” sends me straight to Moorish architecture -nobody did arches like them- and to my photos from Spain, especially Andalusia.

Here are some arches from the Great Mosque of Cordoba and the Royal Alcazar of Seville. I’ve also added a couple of shots from the Casa de Pilatos, an Andalusian palace in Seville, which serves as the permanent residence of the Dukes of Medinaceli.

A Word A Week Challenge: Ornate

This week’s word challenge is “ornate.” The word made me thing immediately of Barcelona‘s beautiful –and very ornate– concert hall, the Palau de La Música Catalana. The Palau was designed in the Catalan modernista style by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, and built between 1905 and 1908. It is quite stunning and I only regret not having had time to attend a concert in that magnificent venue.

A Word A Week Challenge: Pink

The color pink. It’s a happy color. Some love it, some hate it. I think I love it…

A Word A Week Challenge: Roof

Rooftops of Lisbon.

I took these photos from the Castelo Sāo Jorge (St. George Castle) in Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest quarter. The mediaeval castle was the royal residence until the early 16th century and today provides extraordinary views of the city and Tagus river.
