Doors with big numbers, for Norm’s Thursday Doors. 🙂 The first one is from Milan, Italy. The other two are elevator doors, found at the Chelsea Market in New York.

Thursday Doors on Friday. More Barcelona doors, with interesting carvings and wrought iron work.

Thursday Doors – Sept. 28, 2017
Two doors in one shot. An open door leads to a more interesting door at the end of the entryway. I love everything about this white door, including the blue trimmings around it. And the red walls are also great. Photo taken in Barcelona.

The folks at 817 Ocean Ave. like to play with their door colors. When I first photographed it a few years ago it was a beautiful pink with a wreath of reddish flowers and fruits. This week I photographed it again, now in a lovely light blue with a gorgeous yellow lemon wreath. And the numbers have colors now! Which one do you prefer?

Technically it’s already Friday so, with a little delay, here are my “Thursday Doors.” As you can see, graffiti is quite a problem for some good old doors in Barcelona…

These magnificent doors are part of the Palau Güell, another masterpiece of architect  Antoni Gaudi in the city of Barcelona.

Old door, Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes), Avignon, France.
The Palais des Papes is the largest Gothic palace in the world. There are 15,000 square meters of living space, which is the equivalent of 4 Gothic cathedrals. Its construction began in AD 1252 and it became the residence of the Popes in 1309. The huge structure is actually two palaces joined together, each built for a different pope. The palace was seized and sacked by revolutionary forces during the French Revolution in 1789 so most rooms are totally empty, but some beautiful frescos were preserved.
The Courtyard (the old door can be seen on the far right).
