These are some of the doors of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, in New York.st-patricksweb-dsc_0037

The door below is St. Patrick’s “Door of Mercy.” The Pope has urged catholics to take the opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence during the Year of Mercy by passing through a designated Holy Door. stpatricksweb-dsc_0027 stpatricksweb-dsc_0056  st-patrickesweb-dsc_0048stpatricksweb-dsc_0071

Thursday Doors – July 21, 2016

For this week’s Thursday Doors, I am sharing a few captures from the historic colonial mining town of Ouro Preto, in Southeastern Brazil. Ouro Preto is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its outstanding Baroque architecture. You can see some of that in the shots.DoorsOuroPreto-Web-09b_008Doors-OuroPreto-Web-10b_015-1  DoorsOuroPreto-Web-10b_010   DoorsOuroPretoWeb-10bb_042Door-OuroPreto-Web-10b_007DoorsOuroPreto-Web-15a_008

Thursday Doors – July 7, 2016

For this week’s Thursday Doors, I am sharing a series of doors from Chicago’s Astor Street District, a posh historic area of the city. I love how the rather traditional doors are surrounded by beautiful planters with lovely flowers, which gives the houses a warm and inviting touch. Except for the Society of Architectural Historians, which has a pretty door but nothing about it says Welcome! 🙂 ChicagoDoors-WebDSC_9452 ChicagoDoors-Web-DSC_9445 ChicagoDoors-Web-DSC_9442 ChicagoDoors-Web-DSC_9431ChicagoDoors-Web-DSC_9448
