Travel Theme: Symbol

As I searched for photos for this week’s Travel Theme, “Symbol,” I came across this one, where the American flag (a national symbol) is embracing a palm tree (one of Los Angeles’ unofficial symbols). I thought this was, well, symbolic… 🙂IMG_0855

Travel Theme: Sky

These photos were taken in Ojai, CA, a picturesque town, 83 miles from Los Angeles. The Ojai Valley is known for unique sunsets called “pink moments.” To capture those moments, instead of looking west at the setting sun, one should look east to see its reflection on the bluffs of the Topa Topa Mountains, which for a few moments are airbrushed a Day-Glo pink. Well, much to my disappointment, the weather turned bad when we were there, and the pink effect didn’t quite happen. Instead, ominous dark clouds covered the mountains, which I found extremely dramatic and absolutely awesome. Here are a couple of the photos taken that day._DSC0147

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unexpected

These are not necessarily great shots, but they all show something unexpected…

Most CVS pharmacies are boring, uneventful buildings. Not in Venice Beach, though… Seeing this fun building from afar, I didn’t expect it to be CVS!
When we decided to fly from Seville to Lisbon to save time, we didn’t expect we’d be flying in this tiny aircraft! What a trip!
After a long day sightseeing in cold and rainy weather in Lisbon, finding a bottle of Port wine at our hotel room gave us a “welcome home” feeling. A nice and unexpected surprise.
While taking photos around the beach in Santa Monica, I came across this unexpected scene and couldn’t resist a shot at being a wedding photographer. Not sure this was nice, but they looked so good!
Still new at macro photography, I was surprised to see the things the lens captured here. The teeny-weeny ant was dragging an even tinier creature, and when I zoomed in… well, there was more there than met the eye. Yikes!
